Treatments
As single mothers or as a lesbian couple, and according to the current Spanish legislation, you can choose among the following Assisted Reproductive Treatments (ART):
- Artificial Insemination with sperm of an anonymous donor.
- In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) with sperm of an anonymous donor.
- Reciprocal IVF (ROPA). It is also known as “double maternity”.
- Egg vitrification.
For the artificial insemination a sample of sperm is prepared (from an anonymous donor) to be positioned in the uterine cavity of the patient during the peri-ovulatory phase.
Artificial insemination can be done during the natural or during a stimulated cycle. It is recommended to carry out the insemination during a stimulated cycle since the pregnancy rates are considerably higher.
